Set up your first three alert rules in under 10 minutes

A drawdown floor, a setup heads-up, and an AI signal — the 3 every active trader should have

10 min · beginner

What you'll have when finished

  • One critical drawdown alert with Telegram delivery
  • One warning indicator alert for trade setups
  • One info AI signal alert as a passive heads-up
  • Cooldowns tuned to each timeframe so you avoid spam

Before you start

  • Telegram needs a one-time setup in Settings → Integrations (Bot Token + Chat ID) before delivery works — Test will fail otherwise
  • Severity is a budget — if you mark everything critical, your phone becomes background noise
  • Cooldown matters more than people expect — a 1m-timeframe rule with 5-min cooldown can still fire 50× a day

Walkthrough

  1. Open Alerts → Configure Alerts

Tools → Alerts. Switch to the Configure Alerts tab. The empty list is fine — you're about to populate it. Click New Alert Rule.

Success criteria: You see the New Alert Rule form open

  2. Build Rule 1 — PORTFOLIO_DRAWDOWN @ critical

Name: "Portfolio drawdown 5%". Type: PORTFOLIO_DRAWDOWN. Severity: critical. Cooldown: 240 min (4hr). Delivery: in-app ON, Telegram ON. This is your hard floor — when your total portfolio dips 5% from peak, you find out immediately. Save.

Success criteria: Rule appears in the active list with critical severity badge

  3. Test-fire Rule 1 before relying on it

On the new rule card, click Test. Watch your Telegram for a sample fire (should arrive in 1-3 seconds). If it does NOT arrive: Settings → Integrations → confirm Bot Token + Chat ID are filled and the bot is started in your Telegram chat.

Success criteria: Test message arrives in Telegram OR you have diagnosed the integration gap

  4. Build Rule 2 — RSI_OVERSOLD @ warning

Name: "BTC RSI oversold 1h". Type: RSI_OVERSOLD. Severity: warning. Cooldown: 60 min (matches the 1h timeframe). Delivery: in-app ON, Telegram OFF (this is a "check soon" not "act now"). Save. This pings when BTC/USDT 1h RSI dips below 30 — a heads-up that a long setup may form.

Success criteria: Rule visible with warning severity badge + 60-min cooldown

  5. Build Rule 3 — AI_SIGNAL_HIGH_CONFIDENCE @ info

Name: "MediTrade AI high-confidence". Type: AI_SIGNAL_HIGH_CONFIDENCE. Severity: info. Cooldown: 30 min. Delivery: in-app only. This fires when the MediTrade AI confidence band crosses ~0.75 — passive intel for your next review session, NOT auto-trade instructions.

Success criteria: Rule visible with info severity badge

  6. Switch to the Notification Center and try the filters

Center tab. Filter by TYPE = Risk → you see only your drawdown rule fires (initially empty until one fires). Filter by SEVERITY = critical → same. Switch back to All / All. This is your 7-day audit view — use it weekly to confirm rules fire when expected.

Success criteria: You can filter by type and severity and see expected results

  7. Live Stream toggle — leave OFF until you need it

Live Stream tab polls the freshest fires every few seconds. Useful during high-volatility windows (CPI, FOMC, token unlocks). For day-to-day use, the Notification Center + Telegram delivery is enough — Live Stream is for active monitoring sessions.

Success criteria: You know when to toggle Live Stream on (active sessions only)

What's next

You have three rules covering the 80% of cases that matter: a critical drawdown floor (defense), a warning setup pinger (offense), and an info AI heads-up (passive intel). Habit: monthly audit — if you have not acted on a critical alert in 30 days, downgrade it to warning. If a warning rule fires daily and you never act, raise its cooldown or delete it. Pair with Outbound Webhooks if you want events pushed to YOUR Discord/Slack instead of (or in addition to) Telegram.
